How to Play Block Puzzle: seven tips for a higher score
There is no timer here, which means every game you lose, you lost by placing a piece you had time to think about. Unlike our logic puzzles, this game makes no solvability guarantee — some sets of three genuinely cannot be placed well — so the goal is to keep that moment as far away as possible.

Plan all three pieces before placing the first
The tray refills only after all three are gone, so you always know the whole set you must fit. Placing the easy one first and then discovering the other two do not fit is the most common way a game ends.

Keep the surface flat
Bumpy boards kill you, not full ones. A flat region accepts almost any shape; a jagged one accepts almost nothing. Prefer the placement that leaves an even edge, even when a different one scores now.

Always protect room for a 3×3
The square block is the hardest piece to place, and it appears often enough to plan for. Keeping one open 3×3 region somewhere on the board costs little and prevents the most common instant loss.

Work from the edges inward
Filling from a wall leaves the open space in one connected piece. Placing in the middle first splits the board into two smaller regions, and two small holes are much worse than one large one.

Never leave a single-cell hole
One isolated square can only be filled by a single-cell piece and blocks the row and the column it sits in. If a placement creates one, look for another placement first.

Clear lines to reset, not to score
Clearing is how you buy space back. When the board is getting tight, take the clear even if waiting one turn might have cleared two — a game that continues scores more than a clever double that never happens.

Score comes from multiples, so set them up early
Clearing several lines at once is worth far more than clearing them one at a time. Build toward that while the board is still open, and stop reaching for it the moment space gets short.
